A friend of Mint Films and co-author to the celebrated History of American Graffiti, Caleb Neelon has just dropped a heavy write up on one of our personal favorite freight legends, ICHABOD. We where fortunate enough to contribute a few photos to the project. Cheers!

The latest from Mint member George Anagnostakos and friend Tom Levin of the UCB, highlighting a classic discussion topic of Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. We've all been here before. A bit late on my True/False recap post, better late than never. Here are just a few of my recommended documentary films to see in 2013. The Machine Which Makes Everything DisappearLeviathanCutie & The BoxerExpedition to the End of the WorldNoSunday was the 4th and final day of our True/False adventure in Columbia, MO. David and I started the morning like each before it at Cafe Berlin, scoring another solid breakfast. The rest of my day was filled with 4 screenings, the Closing Night Reception and the Buskers Last Stand.
Each film was noteworthy in its own right, but my top choice would have to be Who is Dayani Cristal?, which had various elements that spoke to me. In-between screenings I accidentally stumbled upon The Speculative Stroll of Columbia, guided by non other then Timothy "Speed" Levitch. A pleasant surprise, if you haven't seen The Cruise, you should. The Closing Night Reception was classy, but I think the Buskers really took the show with a multi act performance around the main lobby of the Missouri Theater, featuring Maine's very own Toughcats. A really wonderful way to end such an eventful weekend. T/F13 was truly an inspiring adventure and I will most definitely be coming back next year. Cheers to the Maine crew: Jon, David, Ron, Lindsay & the Toughtcats! Noteworthy film trailers and musicians to check out coming soon... Day 3, David and I were right out straight with 4 films, a panel discussion on the DIY lifestyle and then some music with the Toughcats at Cafe Berlin to close out the night with the rest of the gang.
My standout film of the day had to be The Machine Which Makes Everything Disappear which looks into the lives of about half a dozen young people from the country of Georgia. Simply a beautiful film. On to the 4th and final day, back to Cafe Berlin for the third time. Day 2 of True/False. Lots of awesome Secret Screenings yesterday, 4 films total. Staying mindful of the waving cat.
On to day 3. Day 1 at my first True/False doc film fest. This spot was a great venue showcasing Dirty Wars and The Expedition to the End of the World. It's been pretty awesome so far.
This past weekend I split town for a brief, yet much needed trip to southern California. Getting out of the editing cave every so often is crucial in the winter months. It was nice to recharge the D vitamin cells and experience another beautiful National Park. If you have yet to visit JT, I highly recommended it.
Still of the day from the Year-round Metal Enjoyment edits. TURDL speaks to the YME and T crews of New England. "I feel extremely fortunate; I was able to witness two of the most hard-hitting crews in New England in their heydays." -TURDL |
