Welcome to the New Year and the ever humbling New England winter season. It’s been a few months so lets get up to speed…
With the closing of 2011 comes the beginning of many new projects, as well as some continued. Damnationland 2011 was another smash hit amongst the southern Maine scene, raising the bar to new heights for local auteurs. DVD copies of the new program can be purchased and rented at Video Port in Portland. Mint Films is currently in the process of sending “Telephoto” out to short film festival circuit. On the horizon for Mint you can expect to see a pair of short promotional pieces for Goodwill Industries as well as a handful of new product videos for the locally based home design brand Core Deco. You can also expect more collaborating with F-Stomp as we continue the "Writers Profile" series into the frigid months. Many other ideas and projects on the table, we’ll see what makes the cut. This past March MINT was invited to attend the 48 Hour Film Projects Filmapalooza, hosted by the Miami International Film Festival for their city winning film A Bounty for Susannah.
Getting out of Maine at this time of year can be a much needed recharge from the treacherous winter elements. Sun burns and expensive cabs aside, there where many wonderful people and a great collection of beautifully produced short films from around the globe.
